| Whew... what a tiring week!
FIrst off, there was the CF chalet and BBQ. First time I've stayed over at a chalet, and it was a pretty good experience - if you don't count the burst water pipe and the fact that all of us not very smart Cambridge undergrads didn't think of getting up in the middle of the night to turn up the aircon from a freezing cold 16 degrees at full blast! I mean, I know we're used to English winters, but this is rather silly... esp. when Sam just left the room cos it was cold and didn't look at the controller at all! Chey!
But what I remembered was sitting there working through the idea of a CF musical (and even writing the first verse of the first song) with Zacky... playing a painful game called Bumper Cars that left me with bruises on my knees... scoring a fluke goal at soccer... long walks to Parkway Parade, Ben's gross story about the Ireland trip and the "Singapore Mermaid", and our late-night Mafia game (another of those murderer / polar bear variants).
Yeah, it's great to be with Christian friends. The first night, we had a wonderful time praying for the BBQ, which reminded me of why I'm friends with these people in the first place. It's because of the family bond that comes from being in Christ, and nothing beats that in the world... =)
Yes, the freshers who came enjoyed themselves, from what I hear, and there was enough food, and the weather was fine, and God answered all our prayers! Isn't that amazing, after we thought we'd failed so badly in the preparations? Thank You Lord! Thank you also to Ade and her parents for working so hard, it wouldn't have happened without you guys... but yes it was so nice just chatting to Yao Cheng and Jonathan and Nicole and Kelvin (our freshers), or seeing Tim better again after a tough week, or helping with the BBQ and fanning hot friends =). It was worth it, guys, every single bit. Thank you all again for a great experience. |
